Alice Annette Smith

Mrs. Alice McNeely Smith, 72, of Hickory, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Born in Iredell County on July 3, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Thurston McNeely, Sr and Mary Frances McNeely.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son, Ryan Brent Smith, Jr.

Alice was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hickory.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Ryan Brent Smith of the home, two daughters; Melanie Smith Gray (Scottie) of Hickory, NC and Meredith Smith Johnson (Matthew) of Morehead City, NC, one brother Thurston McNeely, Jr. of Mooresville, NC, two sisters; Lucy Hastings of Mooresville, NC, Mary Frances Lowrance of Kings Mountain, NC, and four grandchildren, Landyn Gray, Coleman Gray, Ryan Johnson and Cooper Grace Johnson.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Hickory at 3:00pm with the Reverend Heather Davis and Reverend Timothy C. Pritchard of Raleigh NC officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 or the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research, 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513.
