He was born January 8, 2001 to Tera Roy Ackerman in Catawba County.
Alex is preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny Edward McDaniel Sr., a man whose influence, love, and devotion for Alex cannot be captured by mere mortal words.
Alex adored him.
He is survived by his loving mother Tera Roy Ackerman and bonus dad John Ackerman, grandmother Carol W. McDaniel, uncle Johnny Edward McDaniel II, cousins Raymond, Jonathan and Samuel McDaniel, and a long list of extended family and friends.
Alex graduated from Fred T. Foard High School and was chosen to attend Lenoir-Rhyne University his senior year as part of their prestigious High School Scholars Academy based on his academic excellence.
Alex loved the outdoors which grew from hiking with his Mom as a little boy. Together they were also able to share wonderful vacation experiences traveling to exotic locations such as Cancun and Hawaii.
In his short life Alex learned the importance of giving back. He had a genuine love of understanding people and was keenly interested in helping others which gravitated him towards a career in psychology.
Alex loved working with young people, serving as a day camp youth counselor during the summer at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte and was currently employed at Autism 360 in Hickory working with children and adolescents affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, a position he truly delighted in.
He recently completed training to begin working with Autistic adults and was pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
Alex made friends easily with people of all ages, his radiant smile put others at ease and drew them to him instantly.
Alex was fervent Star Wars memorabilia collector and often quoted the character Yoda as part of his wonderful sense of humor.
An avid weightlifter, Alex was devoted to fitness and nutrition.
No description of Alex would be complete without noting his ferocious online gaming prowess.
Alex will be missed forever by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 12pm at Providence Baptist Church in Vale, NC. The Reverend Ernie Richards presiding.
The family wishes to invite everyone in attendance to share a meal in the church's reception hall following the Service.
