Rhoda Chester

Rhoda Chester passed away on April 14. She is survived by her three daughters. Tamar (Tommy) Gillan, Naomi (Scott) Laker and Marna Chester. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren. Jonathan, Thomas and Joshua Gillan. Leo and Zoe Laker .

Rhoda was born and raised in New York. She grew up in Rockaway Beach. Lived in Brooklyn for her young married life and moved back to Rockaway to raise her daughters with her husband of 56 years, Joe.

Rhoda was a teacher and head of the English department at New Utrecht High School for 31 years.

Rhoda spent the past 10 years splitting her time between New York and Boca where she made many wonderful friends and lived a fulfilling life.

She will be greatly missed. To know her was to love her.

We are opening our home to gather after the funeral Wednesday 4-8pm, Thursday 1-6pm, Friday 12-2pm (Unofficial) Shiva will be held 4/21-4/25 and 4/27 12-2, 6-7:30 - Address: 170 West Broadway, #7G, Long Beach, NY 11561

A chapel service for Rhoda will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels, 1450 Broadway, Hewlett, New York 11557. Interment will take place at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Glendale NY.
