On your birthday, you are in our hearts, dear Paul. 

Dottie and Paul Glasgow and our parents Janie and Neil Stockhamer were dear, dear friends for over 60 years. I believe Dottie and Janie met working at Brooklyn College — but I could be wrong. Long into the future of that friendship, the four, along with other friends,, shared  theatre subscriptions and attended many performances at Hofstra.  The four shared Long, deep conversations, kindness and laughter. 

I can’t speak of Paul without speaking of Dottie. They were inseparable yet so much their own people. More recently, Paul, along with Dottie, attended our Mom’s “Farewell Performance” on stage at the library and Paul, as he had done for decades, chronicled the occasion in photographs. But that wasn’t enough.  Paul and Dottie INSISTED on treating our post-show extended group to dinner. My husband Jack was knocked out by Paul’s wheelchair throne invention in the car! .  Our dad Neil had been gone for two and a half years but Dottie and Paul continued to always be there for Janie. He was her birthday buddy— close to  the dawn of May. He and Dottie kindly  invited my mom  to his 90th Birthday celebration and she and my brother were so honored to attend and to honor Paul. Paul mentored my brother Lee and had insightful advice into the world of inventions and patents. He generously shared his extensive knowledge and provided guidance to  Lee and lessons learned are still remembered. Paul kept in touch with us frequently during our dad’s final illness although he was coping with his and Dottie’s and the family’s own significant challenges. 

But that was Paul: magnanimous, kind, gentle, focused, caring, wise and patient. A mensch beyond words. My heart goes out to the Glasgow family during this unprecedented time — an earthshaking loss for you compounded by a distancing pandemic. May memories sustain you. Rest In Peace, dear Paul.
