A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE OBITUARY WRITER
Ramon came to Southern California from Ohio seeking a better life for his family. He had worked for the Youngstown Water Dept. before leaving Ohio. Upon reaching California, the only job he could immediately obtain was picking oranges. After only a couple of days of that, he decided that was not for him. He then joined the Laborers Union where in became a Grade Checker for Sully Miller Company. An old Motor Grader/ Blade Operator took him under his wing and taught Ramon how to operate the Blade. In a couple years' time, Ramon joined the Operating Engineers and became one of the best Blade Operators in Southern California. In only four more years, he received and suit and tie position as an Apprentice Coordinator with the Southern California International Union of Operating Engineers. After leaving the union four years later to start his own business venture, he started his own grading and paving company which became very successful until retiring in 2015. Quite the accomplishment for a man of little academic education. It was through sheer determination, hard work and the blessings of God that made him such a successful human being.
Ray loved God and his Savior Jesus. He loved his family and loved America. He was our strength. He was my strength! I don't know what I will do without you Dad.....
Your son, Rick
