Gene Larry Hendrix, 82, of Hesperia, passed away on December 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and adventure. Born January 18, 1942, Gene was the middle child of three to LM and Marjorie Hendrix (Ruddell), of Lennox, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Judith (Kutil) Hendrix; sister Joy Pierson; brother Wayne Hendrix; and his cherished daughter, Cyndi Mancell, who passed away in April 2023.
Gene proudly served his country, joining the military in 1959 and earning an honorable discharge in 1962. He embarked on a successful driving career in 1966, working tirelessly until his retirement in 1997. A proud Teamster and dedicated member of the VFW, Gene was known for his steadfast work ethic and community involvement.
In 1976, Gene married the love of his life, Judith, and together they built a beautiful family and life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Gene is survived by his children: Jackie Mankin, Dewayne Hendrix, Belinda Permenter, Judith Hendrix, Debbie West, and Brett Hendrix; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.
Gene had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for adventure. He enjoyed rock climbing in Lucerne Valley and Death Valley, traveling to new destinations, and immersing himself in music. His favorite artists, Joe Bonamassa, Chris Stapleton, and Conway Twitty, were constant companions in his life’s journey.
Gene will be lovingly remembered and honored by pallbearers Greg Pierson, Cameron Snow, Kerry Snow, Chris Snow, Jim West, and Mel Frisbee.
Services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Victor Valley on December 30, 2024 from 10am-12pm. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery at 2pm.
Gene’s unwavering love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and his passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he Rest In Peace.
