Evelyn Eugenia “Jean” Reising was the oldest of three children. She was the daughter of Jessie and Margaret (Price) Thompson. Evelyn was born on September 8, 1941, in Maryland. She passed away on January 16, 2024, in Apple Valley, California.
Evelyn attended Blue Mountain Academy Boarding High School in Hamburg, Pennsylvania and later Southern Adventist University College in Collegedale, Tennessee.
She worked and later retired from the Engineering Department of Wolf Range, originating in Los Angeles, California, a high-end commercial kitchen appliance manufacturer.
Following the death of her husband Robert “Bob” in 2017, Evelyn moved into a home with her two much loved pups, Curly-Sue, and Pumpkin to Jess Ranch, Apple Valley, California. She resided there until her death. Evelyn was elected to the Jess Ranch Master Association (JRMA), Board of Directors soon after she moved to Jess Ranch. She served the community as treasurer for six years. Evelyn also performed the duties of Editor for the JRMA OASIS Magazine from June 2022 until she was hospitalized in late December 2023.
Evelyn’s grandmother taught her the fundamentals of piano. She later went on to play the piano & organ and sing at various churches. Evelyn, without formal education, was a writer, embroider, quilter, painter, and enjoyed crocheting. Evelyn donated hundreds of children’s quilts to several organizations over the years, including the Domestic Violence Shelter. In October 2023, she donated forty-four quilts just in time for Christmas to Loma Linda University Neonatal Department.
She will be missed by the family and friends she leaves behind.
A private “Celebration of Life” is being planned for February 27, 2024.
