My Mom started me in dance classes with Virginia Rose at age 3 1/2 due to the fact I was born with club feet. I was given a dance scholarship (attached) and danced with her until I received a scholarship to attend USIU, School of Performing Arts, in San Diego. I tracked her down in 2008 when I was living in Las Vegas but never made it down to see her in Boulder City. I regret not seeing her. RIP Miss Virginia Rose and please say hello to my Mom & Dad up in heaven. 

I remember you fondly.. spent many years at your dance studio. Rip Ms. Virginia Rose.. and I remember my classmates as well as Benita.. 

Miss Rose, I thank you so much for everything you ever taught me!  I loved dancing so much!!  You gave me a scholarship so I could learn more and more. Thank you!  I remember that I would get out of school and go right to the studio and take classes till 8 30pm or so!  I got my start in the circus because of you!  You were a great woman!

Miss Rose was an important member of my life.  I cherish her memory.  My mother Betty Zander taught with Miss Rose, to pay for my classes.  I loved all the classes, but tap was my favorite.  In ballet, I imagined that I looked like my idol, Carol Dodson a beautiful ballerina!

Miss Rose, your classes helped me get over a childhood illnes Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Your daughter Banita called me Speedy Gonzalez because I could change fast and generally made it out before all the others. I just found out today that you now dance for God and I imagine it is beautiful. I share my memories with my daughter of the different places we had recitals and remember the one in Torrance Mall as one of the best. I had so much fun. My deepest condolences to your family and friends. Rest In Peace my teacher.

I owe my career to you Miss Rose.  I started dance lessons at 41/2 in Mar of 1948 and continued until my Junior year of high school.  I met my daughters father in your studio we dated for several years and married in 1962.  We have the wonderful photos of that wedding taken by the talented Photographer Ace Kickbush.  The only desire for a career I ever had was to teach dance and acrobatics (gymnastics).  I began my career in 1963 in a small town in the Mojave desert and continued for 32 years becoming director of the City's dance and gymnastic programs and head coach of the competition team. The excellent training and creative choreography along with costuming and stage directing all came from your talents and sharing with your students and the hundreds of performance we provided all over the L A basin.  Thank You for instilling the love of dance in me, it has brought me joy always and through some of the most difficult times in my life.  This is the tribute I leave for you and your family.  This love has been passed on to my daughter and now her daughter.

Miss Rose, Thank you for making my life so wonderful.  Because of my dancing, my life feels complete.  Because of you, I was able to meet my wonderful husband Henry.  May you continue your love for dance in Heaven.  You will be missed, but most of all, loved forever.

I saw the news of Virginia Rose's passing on the Facebook page for Sunland-Tujunga.  Although I have not had any contact with Virginia in over 50 years, she holds a special place in my heart.  I have vivid memories of being in her dance studio and performing the Nutcracker (I was a 6 year old mouse).  I still have those pictures (probably from the late 1950s early 1960s.  Condolences to her family.
