Valerie M. Potter

Valerie Graduated from St Vincent High School, Class of 1954, she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Akron, her nursing degree from St. John Nursing School, and her master’s degree from Boston College.

She had a variety of careers; she was a stewardess for Eastern Airlines, she taught at Our Lady of the Elms, was a nurse for St. Edwards Nursing Home, and a social worker for Diocese of Cleveland.

While she was studying at the University of Akron; Valerie was a member of Alpha Gamma Sorority and was a Tel Book Queen for the University of Akron. She was a member of The Dominican Sisters of Peace. Valerie had many hobbies and talents; she had her pilots license, was a grand master bridge player, loved: golf and playing slot machines and participated in the theater as a young girl.

She married the love of her life, James Dell Potter MD, on July 23,1974.

She is preceded in death by her parents Chester R. Marshall, Sr. and Eva Lou Marshall, her siblings; Dr. E. Thomas Marshall (Carole, Mary Jo), Charles Marshall (Kimberly), Monica Burley(Edward), sister-in-law’s; Patsy Scow (R.L.), La Vern, brother-in-law; Alan Potter (Ellen), stepchildren; Debra Potter, Casey (Diane).

She is survived by her brother; Chester Marshall (Helen), sisters; Eva Ann Hubiak (Nicholas; deceased), Clara Taipale (Robert; deceased), Hannah AKA Bushie Marshall (Rich Slovisky), Dr. Cynthia Marshall-Petroff, her sister-in-law; Jeanie Potter, her brother-in-law’s Leon Potter (Carolyn), Delwin Potter (Linda), and her stepchild; Danny Potter (Laurie),and Daryl Potter.

She leaves behind many friends, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Services for Valerie will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 with a visitation from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM and a service from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson Nevada, 89015.
