Sherren Styles, 63, transitioned peacefully August 26, 2022, at home in Henderson, Nevada. Sherren is deeply beloved by many because of her loving spirit and her take charge attitude. Born on December 13, 1958, in Conway Arkansas to homemaker, Lue Emma Nix Embry and Army career soldier, Charles Edward Embry, Sherren was next to the youngest in a family of five children. With her family she lived all over the world because of her Dad’s commitment to the Armed Forces. Her worldwide point of view helped as she advised or counseled the loved ones who sought her out. Sherren loved the Lord; she and her son Phillip would often talk about Jesus and share sermons and scriptures. The serenity prayer was her personal go-to and often reminded others of its wisdom. Affectionately called “The General” by her sisters, Sherren, a born leader with strong organizational skills, was the kind of person you wanted to follow because she led with finesse, heart, and soul. She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met.
Sherren graduated from St Mary’s College and worked for the City of Berkeley from where she retired after 20+ years. She was curious about life and loved learning and seeing new things. So, traveling,(especially the planning part) decorating,(especially the shopping part) and spending quality time with and taking care of friends and family were always at the top of her list.
She is survived by her husband Dennis L. Styles, her two adult sons Marcus Hughes of Napa California and Phillip Hughes of Atlanta Georgia, her siblings Deborah Asante of Indianapolis Indiana, Terrance Embry of Frederick Maryland, Pamela Embry of Fresno California, Juaniki Baker (Anthony) of Little Rock Arkansas, her nieces, and nephews, who affectionately called her auntie Shay, Terrance Asante-Doyle, Karis Hayes, Charles Embry, Nathan Boyette, Nicole Boyette, Natisa Stackhouse, and Anthony Baker. She will be missed by aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles and a host of cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her first husband Timothy Hughes.
Sherren was cherished by the entire Styles family. She will be missed by her sisters and brother's in-law, her stepsons and daughters, her grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She touched their lives in the best way possible and in too many ways to list.
Memorial service will be held Friday, September 9, at 2 pm at Palm Mortuaries & Cemeteries in Henderson NV.
