Ronald was born on November 23rd, 1947, in Fairchance, Pennsylvania, son of the late Clyde and Cecilia (Stetar) Hill. He had five siblings; Paul, Paulette, Mark, Martha, and Pamela whom he thought the world of.
Ron was preceded in death by both his parents, Clyde and Cecilia (Stetar) Hill; his brother Mark and sister Paulette. Ron is survived by his wife of 48 wonderful years, Ruby Claudine (Sweeney) Hill; sons Sean Pickryl of Brookpark Ohio, Michael (Brandy) Hill of Henderson Nevada, Joseph Hill of Strongsville Ohio, and daughter Tammy (Scott) Downs of Madison Georgia; grandchildren Dylan and Abigail Pickryl / Jaden, Ryan, Maddison, Gracie, Saylor, and Michael Hill Jr / Josh, Blake, and Braden Downs; siblings Paul Hill, Martha (James) Dudas, and Pamela (Joseph) Monastra; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His early life was spent in Fairchance, Pennsylvania, with the family eventually relocating to Brookpark, Ohio. After graduation at Midpark High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably during Vietnam. Upon his return from serving his country, he eventually began his long-term career at United Parcel Service (UPS), working his way up through the ranks, where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement in 2003.
Ron was a mountain of a man with an unassuming stature. He could be quiet, observant, and at a moment’s notice could light up a room with his sarcasm and wit. He enjoyed bowling, collecting coins, breeding tropical fish, old country flicks and music, Clint Eastwood movies, but above all loved his family. He was willing to give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was also not afraid to let you know where he stood, unapologetically. He was the perfect accountability mirror. If you wanted the hard facts, just ask, but you always knew to be mindful of what you asked for because he was going to give you a well thought out unfiltered response. His love for those he cared about was unrivaled. He truly made everyone around him better.
In his later years, he simply enjoyed spending time with his wife and spoiling his grandchildren. He appreciated the simple things in life and was always the humblest man in the room. Ron truly left a legacy that will go on for generations to come and will be sorely missed by all.
