Robert "Bob" Earle Winland

Robert Earle Winland, age 71, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday May 29, 2020. Robert was born August 23, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to his parents Taylor James Winland and Alice Marie (McCollum) Winland. Bob grew up in Mantua, Ohio, graduating from Crestwood High School.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army, in January of 1966. He served at several Army bases before being sent to Vietnam in 1967. Bob served honorably in Vietnam and was released from active duty in 1968.

Bob worked for many years as a carpenter, and did plumbing and sales within the construction industry. Later in life he would meet his soulmate and one true love, Joyce. The couple would blend their lives on June 20, 1986 in a private civil wedding in Kenton, Kentucky. The couple eventually relocated to Nevada, where they would settle in Henderson. Bob loved his wife, and enjoyed spending every free moment with her. They loved traveling the country, taking cruises, visiting resorts, and their trips to Hawaii.

In his youth, Bob was outgoing and energetic. He loved camping, fishing, watching horse races, and baseball; his favorite team being the Cleveland, Indians. Being a life-time fan, he took pleasure in knowing that the last time the team won a world series, although probably not aware since he was an infant; he and his family were at the game. As an adult, and after his retirement in 2015, Bob continued to enjoy the outdoors and fishing. His life slowed down significantly in 2016 with the passing of his wife just shy of there 30th Anniversary. He told those closest to him about wanting to take a trip across the country to visit his sister, and about feeling good enough to go on a fishing trip.

Friendly and pleasant, Bob was a warm but charismatic man. He truly enjoyed all that life had to offer and took advantage of every opportunity to live his life to the fullest!

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents: Taylor and Alice, and his brother, Edgar. He is survived by his sisters: Virginia Varga and Valeria Belknat; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Due to COVID-19 there will not be public services. Bob will be laid to rest with his wife at Palm Henderson Cemetery in Henderson, Nevada. He will be honored for his service, that will be streamed on Facebook live at 9:00 AM, Friday, June 19, 2020. Please click on the link below to access the live stream.
