Richard I. Savage, Sr.

Richard I. Savage Sr., age 80, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Richard was born January 16, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Irving and Alice Savage. Richard attended Westfield High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army.

Richard married the love of his life Rosemarie Joanne Falcetti on June 24, 1961 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield, Massachusetts. The following month, the young couple would embarq on a wonderful journey that would span over the next 56 years, relocating to California.

Richard worked as a commercial truck driver in California, Arizona, and Southern Nevada for many years. In 1994, He and his wife Rosie settled down in Henderson, Nevada, where Richard would finish his lifelong career, retiring in 1999.

Most, that knew Richard in his early years, would look at him as a tough, macho man, and rough around the edges. His career had him out on the road and constantly traveling from place to place. In his spare time, he loved to play pool, read, and when time served, he coached little league. To his family, they knew a different side of Richard. Although direct, and stern with discipline; his family knew him as a caring, warm, and deeply sensitive teddy-bear. He loved spending as much time as possible with his family. After his retirement, and as his family grew with the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren, Richard was able to thoroughly take advantage of life with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors: Golfing, Fishing, Camping, and taking trips to Mexico to deep sea fish. He was a history buff, an avid reader, whom always had his nose in a book, when time permitted.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Irving Savage; mother, Alice Savage; brothers Robert and Gerald Savage; and great grandson, Elijah Savage. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Savage; five children: Robin Romero, Rick Savage (Jeanette), Randy Savage (Amanda), Renee Savage (Victor Medina), and Raeann Savage (Rudy Torres); sister-in-law, Sandy Savage; brother, Ronald Savage; grandchildren: Kristina Savage (Henry Sanchez), Candace Lamping (Paul Javier), Naelani Oster, Nicholas Oster, Tristyn Ferralez, Brandon Savage, C.J. Cummons, Katelyn Cummons, Desiree Robertson (Bryan), Andrew Hunt (Lindsey), Ray Hunt (Stephanie) , and great grandchildren: Alyssa Walton, Domani Sanchez, Ariyah Sanchez, Celeste Savage and Maya Ferralez.

A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Palm Henderson Cemetery.
