Rex Thomas Patchett passed away tragically on March 7, 2022 at the age of 13. Rex was the beloved son of Jason and Samantha Patchett of Henderson, NV. He is survived by his loving siblings: Travis (18), Luke (16), and Bella (11). He was the loving Great-Grandson of Ronald and Margie Nelson, and Sam Davis, Grandson of Rod and Annette Burr, Jami Patchett and Michael Patchett. Other surviving family members are Uncles and Aunts: Andrew and Sara Patchett, Max and Kristina (Patchett) Ramos, Brandon and Brittini Patchett, Joseph Patchett, Tara Patchett, Derek and Brooke (Burr) Sutherland, Sam and Haley (Burr) Gilek, and David Burr. He was preceded in death by his Great-Grandparents, Lynn and JoAnne Burr, Ellie Davis, and Marvin and Della Patchett.
Rex will always be remembered for his kindness and his big heart. He never wanted anyone to feel left out and was crushed if he thought he had hurt someone’s feelings. Rex was great at enjoying the journey of life, and could find happiness in almost any activity. He loved the beach, and even though he had very fair skin, he loved the sun and the surf. After going to the beach, he was often sun-burnt and swollen, but very happy! The time he spent with his family and friends were the things he treasured most.
Rex loved sports, both as a participant and as a fan. He didn’t have favorite teams, he had favorite players. He loved tracking them and their statistics. He was extremely loyal to his all-time favorite sports figure: Bryce Harper. Rex’s favorite baseball team was whoever Bryce Harper was playing for.
Rex was grateful for everything he had and never took anything for granted. He loved hugs from his family, but this “Mama’s Boy” especially loved hugging and snuggling with his mom. His career ambition was to do whatever his dad did, and he mentioned many times that he was never going to move out. He wanted to live his life right where he was: at home with his family.
This sweet, gentle, and kind boy leaves behind many, many friends in Henderson and Boulder City. He will be sorely missed.
The funeral will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Water Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: 400 S. Water Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV.
