Rene Holland

Rene Holland, age 89, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. She was born on February 21, 1934, in Liverpool, England, and led a life defined by extraordinary experiences. She not only survived but thrived, demonstrating unwavering resilience during the era of World War II and the harrowing bombings that shook her homeland. Rene's narratives of her childhood left us in awe, recounting how she and countless other children worked tirelessly to help their families as England painstakingly rebuilt itself.

Radiating a vibrant spirit, Rene's inner and outer beauty were undeniable. In 1948, she was crowned Miss Dunlop in Liverpool, a testament to her grace and charm. Her love for dance was infectious, infusing joy into the hearts of all those who shared her company.

In 1956, Rene embarked on a new life chapter when she married U.S. Air Force, Staff Sergeant, Leonard James. Their union welcomed two cherished children into the world, Terrance James and Wanda James. While their union eventually took different paths in 1974, the adventures they shared were meaningful.

It was in 1979 that she discovered a profound and enduring love with U.S. Army, First Sergeant, Edward Holland. Over the course of the next 43 years, they embarked on a remarkable odyssey, traversing the globe together and savoring 17 unforgettable cruises. They explored far-flung ports of call, living a life many only dream of. Ed and Rene also embraced the freedom of the open road, embarking on epic journeys across the country in their trusty RV. Together, they made homes in Denver, Hampton, Viera Beach, Melbourne, and, finally, Las Vegas.

Her adventurous spirit and infectious laughter radiated warmth and joy as Ed and Rene were steadfast pillars at family gatherings. They graced weddings, holidays, and summer vacations with their unwavering presence, cherishing each precious moment with love.

In her final months, Irene displayed extraordinary strength, discovering moments of joy amid pain and discomfort. She served as a poignant reminder of the profound importance of family, leaving behind a legacy that will forever warm our hearts.

Rene is survived by her loving husband, Edward Holland; her daughter, Wanda James; her brother, Thomas Fox; sisters: Elizabeth Fox and Mae Gullet; and nieces and nephews: Michelle Thorpe, Stephanie Hamilton, Joanne Fox, Onalisse, Marlisse, Russ, and James Karchner. She is now reunited with her son, Terrance James; her brother, Robert Fox; her nephew Peter Fox; niece, Gillian Fox; and her mother and father Mae and Thomas Fox, in eternal peace.

A memorial service for Rene will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
