Ray Baldwin Bryant, age 98, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away peacefully at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 due to complications of Coronavirus. He was born on October 6, 1922 in Memphis Texas, son of Leo and Ines (Baldwin) Bryant.
The majority of his growing up years was on a small farm in Seminole, Oklahoma. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from January 25, 1943 with an Honorable Discharge on November 11, 1945. He was a Christian family man and knew the meaning of hard work. They were active members of the Desert Hills Baptist Church. Ray especially enjoyed playing his clarinet and the piano, was part of the church band, and did custodial services for many years. He also enjoyed painting with pastels and has painted some beautiful pictures.
Ray and Dolly “Joy” (Finney) married in Henderson, Nevada on March 18, 1954. They had five children together. After Ray and Joy had Cindy, Leanna, and R.B, they moved to Oklahoma where his brother lived to help on the farm. They had their fourth child Mollie. They then went to Missouri and purchased a dairy farm. They eventually lost the farm due to a severe drought, and decided to move to Iowa where Joy’s two brothers lived. That is where their fifth child Jessie was born. Ray could not find employment so they moved back to Henderson, Nevada. Ray was employed at the Titanium Metal Plant in Henderson for 8 years. He was also employed at the Clark County School District as a Custodian and worked there for 20 years until his retirement. Ray and Joy lived in Las Vegas raising their family and remained in the same home for 52 years, until they moved into the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City in July of 2018.
Ray is survived by his wife, Joy Bryant; three daughters: Cynthia Bryant (Frank Marinelli III), Mollie (Raymond) Weiser, Jessie (Tom) McPhail; son, Rollin (Karen) Bryant; seven grandchildren: Jason (Crystal) Bryant, Kevin (Kassondra) Bryant, Cory Bryant, Michael Paiz, Joseph Paiz, Sara (Aaron) Flores, and Charles (Jennifer) Thrasher III; nine great-grandchildren: Tristan Bryant, Gideon Bryant, Jameson Bryant, Kaiden Bryant, Korben Bryant, Mackenzie Thrasher (mother is Christy Thrasher), Charlotte Thrasher, Aiden Paiz, Carmella Flores; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Leanna and Charles Thrasher II; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jenny Bryant; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Belton Cowen; sister and brother-in-law, Velda and Richard Simmons; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Art Armstrong; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Bob Sacksteader; brother-in-law, Daren Finney; brother-in-law, Emery Finney; brother-in-law, Donald Finney; Niece, Mary Ann (Cowen) Young; and Nephews: Billy Wayne Bryant, Ed Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Hal Finney, and Shawn Sacksteader.
Ray was a good, kind, generous, compassionate and loving man. He loved his family, he loved his Lord, and he loved his country.
A private burial service will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada with only a few close family and friends.
A full Celebration of Life, including the Rendering of Military Funeral Honors, will be held at a later date and will be open to visitors following local Covid-19 guidelines, at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary. An announcement will go out prior to the Celebration of Life once the date has been determined by the family. Memorials and/or flowers can be saved until the Celebration of Life event.

Dolly "Joy" Bryant Obituary
Dolly Joy (Finney) Bryant, age 94, passed away peacefully at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Cohasset, Minnesota, daughter of Harry Newton Finney and Roxanna (Axtell) Finney. Joy grew up on a small farm in northern Minnesota. She was a Christian woman and knew the meaning of hard work. She taught Sunday School. She was a Homemaker and took care of her family. Joy baked homemade bread and biscuits every week for years that her family always looked forward to. She worked from home by taking in laundry and ironing and also did childcare. She always had a vegetable garden and loved planting flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved putting together large, complicated jigsaw puzzles, and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word books.

Joy and Ray traveled to Germany twice for extensive stays visiting their daughter, Leanna and her husband Charles Thrasher II, and grandson Charles III while Chuck was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Spangdahlem for many years. Ray and Joy moved into the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City in July of 2018.
