Peter Springer Miller

Peter Springer Miller passed away on June 10, 2020, four days before his 83rd birthday. Peter was born on June 14, 1937 in Middleboro, MA. He attended Plymouth High School and worked part-time and summers in the cranberry bogs.

Peter enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Lincoln, NE. He earned his B.S. and M.S degrees from the University of Nebraska and his Ph.d in Anthropology from the University of Arizona.

Peter met his wife of 34 years, Lynn, in Sioux Falls, S.D. where he worked as an archaeologist for the state of South Dakota. The cold weather there enticed the couple to migrate to Hawaii. For 23 years, Peter worked as a physical anthropologist for the Central Identification Laboratory at Hickham AFB where he led specialized teams in the recovery of the remains of unidentified military personnel, primarily from the wars in Vietnam, Korea and Southeast Asia. He authored Vietnam MIAs Lost: Changed American Priorities based on his experiences.

Peter’s family includes five adult children: Colin Miller, Alison Miller Corelli (Justin,) Matthew Miller (Heather,) Theodore Lupien (Angjila,) and Leif Lupien, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Peter was an active member of the Episcopal Church and worshipped at St. Christopher’s Church in Boulder City.

For the last year, Peter has been a resident of Southern Nevada Veterans’ Home.

Peter was a kind, loving man who will be missed by all.

Interment Service will be July 28, 2020 at 10:00 am, at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
