Paul Benavidez

Paul Edward Benavidez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away at home in Henderson, on Thursday, June 1, 2023. He was born in Ely, Nevada on November 25, 1953 to Florence and Henry Benavidez. In 1956, the Benavidez family moved to Henderson, Nevada where he grew up and met his future wife, Christy Ann Petersen. They were married December 2, 1972.

Paul enlisted in the Air Force in January,1973, and was stationed at George Air Force Base in Victorville, California his entire four years of service. During this time his daughter, Brandy Kay, was born in 1974 and his son, Aaron Paul, was born in 1976.

In 1977, Paul and his family returned to Henderson, where Paul worked in construction as a carpenter until he retired at the age of 62. He was happiest when he was with his friends and family out in the mountains around Ely looking for deer or elk.

Paul is survived by his wife, Christy; his son, Aaron Paul (Tara); his grandson, Brandon; granddaughters: Rylie and Presley; great grandson, Oliver; three sisters: Carol, Janet, Susan; two brothers: David and Aaron; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Brandy Kay; and his sister, Sherrie.

A visitation for Paul will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM both at at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 303 S Cholla Street, Henderson, NV 89015.. Paul will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada. Everyone is invited to return to the Chapel for a luncheon, and to visit and share memories.
