Monty Fred Ritner, age 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Monty was born in Salem, Oregon to Cathryn Fern Brassfied and Lyle Siddle Ritner. At an early age the family relocated to Henderson Nevada, where he was raised with his sister Caroline and graduated from Basic High School; where he enjoyed playing basketball.
In November of 1965, Monty enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served honorably for two years, stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado as a medical specialist. Due to his hard work and dedication he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal, and earned the rank of Specialist Five.
Following his service, Monty went on to work in the Chemical Industry as a Maintenance Craftsman; a position that he held for many years until his retirement.
Later in life, Monty would meet the love of his life, Lolita Ubunger Marzan. On February 24, 2001, the couple would marry at a private civil ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together the couple would blend their lives and families.
Monty was a loving husband, who enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Peters Catholic Church. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife the Philippines, spending time with his extended family, watching sports, specifically basketball, and collecting coins.
Monty was preceded in death by his wife, Lolita Ritner; his father, Lyle Siddle Ritner; mother, Cathryn Fern Brassfied; his sister, Caroline Porter. He is survived by numerous extended family members.
A visitation for Monty will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Monty will be laid to rest privately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
