Michael G. Mazzarelli

Michael Gabriel Mazzarelli, age 96, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born June 17, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to his parents Stefano and Rosalie Mazzarelli. Michael attended South High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Michael continued to serve and support veterans as he belonged to VFW 3023 was District 8 commander 1991-92 Michigan. He was also a member of the Commanders Club both in Grand Rapids and in Nevada, and belonged to The American Legion Post 335 Department of Michigan.

Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Shep! He loved to golf, support his Detroit Lions football team, and had an infectious smile.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Frances Cucinella and Rosalie Guerriero; daughter, Mary Alyce Purdy; and his life partner, Alice Boyd. He is survived by his two daughters: Margaret Lovins Bassett and Rosalie Allen (Michael); and son-in-law, Michael Purdy; His wonderful memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and growing number of great grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

Michael will be laid to rest privately with military honors at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
