Mary, beloved wife, sister and aunt, cherished and faithful friend. Generous giver of smiles, hugs and kisses. Sensitive, caring and kind, she freely gave of herself to others in need and to the causes she believed in. Quite simply, what she cared about most, after her family and friends, was the entire world and its peoples and animals, wishing for them safety and peace and love.
Mary was born in Michigan and grew up there. She and her older brother Peter were blessed with two loving and supportive parents, Pete and Jean Panza.
In 1974, after Pete and Jean retired from Ford Motor Company and after Mary graduated from Eastern Michigan University, the three of them moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Pete’s doctor advised him to get to a drier, warmer climate for health reasons. Ever the adventurous one, Mary decided to make the move with them.
About three years later, Mary’s employer transferred her to Kingman, Arizona. It was in Kingman that Mary met her future husband, Paul Havill, the two of them introduced to each other by a mutual friend. They were married on May 23, 1981, the beginning of a thirty-seven-year marriage filled with love, adventure and the normal obstacles and challenges that every couple faces. Mary and Paul always felt that fate brought them together, and how lucky they were to have found each other.
Mary’s battle with cancer brought her and her loving husband even closer together as they faced this health crisis together. Mary was a special person, one of a kind, her family and friends would all agree. For those who knew and loved her, she will stay in our hearts forever.
