Lourdes Girado Best, 79, of Henderson, NV passed away August 6, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV. Lourdes was born on Feb 12, 1941 in Bulan, Sorsogon in the Philippines. She graduated from Bulan High School and later received a certificate in bookkeeping from the Community College of Southern Nevada. She met and eventually married William (Bill) L Best on Sep 24, 1962. Lourdes had a career with the Clark County Library District first as a circulation assistant at the Clark County Library and later as circulation department head at Sunrise and Whitney Libraries. Growing up on a farm in the Philippines, she loved trees and flowers and filled her yard and house with as many plants as she could. She spent quiet time in her yard each day and never missed a chance to show you any new flowers or growth. Early on, Lourdes was a self-taught seamstress and put her children through Catholic School with the money she made. In addition to being a seamstress and gardener, she was an avid reader, liked to bowl, play games, enjoyed long walks, a good buffet, a hard day’s work, was an amazing cook and loved to laugh. She left her small town after high school with 2 hard boiled eggs in her pocket and a one way train ticket to the city to find her new adventure and begin a new life. She found work, sent money home to her family, and met and married her husband, Bill Best. After moving a few times, they eventually settled in Las Vegas, NV after Bill was honorably discharged from the USAF. They were married for 57 years and raised 2 children. She never forgot her family back home and continued to love and support them throughout her life. One of the last things she wanted to do was to go back to the Philippines to see her family again and the beautiful place where she grew up. Lourdes is survived by her husband, William L Best and her children Ludy Lynn Best and William F Best.
