Louis Nathaniel Guy was born October 23, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to James Guy and Alice Wood. Orphaned and raised by his grandparents, he survived life under Segregation for 31 years, entering the Navy in 1958. Louis would become a hospital corpsman and serve a total of 27 years, rising to the rank of E9, Master Chief Petty Officer. Along the way he would live with his family stationed in Guam, Maine, Southern California, and Washington, D.C.
It was in the Navy where Louis would meet the woman who would be his wife of 47 years -Jewel Darlean Knight; whom he married July 7, 1962, who passed away in 2009, and whom he mourned until his death.
Louis was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and with Jewel, helped start a chapter of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Peter's parish in 1994.
Louis was a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children and a patron of charities such as the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and St. Joseph's Indian School. He enjoyed playing piano and spending holidays and vacations with his best friends Bill and Gail Kuhn.
Louis passed away on November 15, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada with friends and family near him. He was loved dearly by all who met and came to know him, and we will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his sons: Mark Edward, Paul Andrew, and John Martin; and brother, Richard Berry Fulton. Paul and his wife, Kristin bore him three grandchildren: Paul Sebastian, Aidan William, and Madeleine Marie.
A celebration of life for Louis will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015, followed by a military honors from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Louis will be laid to rest privately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
