Lori was born on November 29, 1960, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Jay and Darlene (Hoppas) Beard. Most of her younger years were spent in Southern California near one of her favorite places, the beach. She obtained a Fashion Merchandising degree from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she joined Kappa Delta Sorority and was a member of the Chaparelles, a flag drill team part of the USU Aggie Marching Band. It was here that Lori met her beloved husband Chris. They were married December, 28, 1982, in Bakersfield, California. In 1983, Chris and Lori moved to Reno, Nevada, where their two children, Erik and Keri, were born. In 2000, the couple traded the mountains for the warmer climate of Henderson, Nevada, much to Lori’s delight.
Lori’s great legacy is her dedication to family (furry ones too) and friends. Lori is preceded in death by her father Jay in February and is survived by mother Darlene of Erie, Kansas; husband Chris of Henderson, Nevada; sister Shaila Beard (Kristin Boutillier) of San Jose, California; son Erik (Courtney) Swendseid of Henderson, Nevada; daughter Keri (Hunter) Newbrough of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren Austin, Lainey, Adelaide, and the one on the way around Lori’s birth date. Not fond of people making a fuss over her, Lori will be remembered as someone who tirelessly tended the people in her life as well as her home.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, hospice care providers and health care workers who administered care over the last two plus years.
