Kamala S. Paul, age 86, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Kamala was born June 30, 1936 in the country of Bahrain to her parents Jeevasundaram Vedamuthu and K.P. Narayan. Kamala was raised both in Bahrain, but also in Coimbatore, India with her five siblings.
As a young girl, Kamala enjoyed playing basketball, participating in Girl Scouts; and in her spare time she liked to read, write, play music, and knit. Kamala graduated from St. Francis Girls High School in 1951 in Coimbatore, India. Her most memorable achievement was passing the exams of the Trinity College in Music, London. She went on to continue her education at K.E.M College in Bombay, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
On September 4, 1954, Kamala Married the love of her life, Daniel Sunderraj Paul at Christ Church in Coimbatore, India. Together the young couple would embark on a adventure that would span over 63 years. The couple were blessed with 3 children, and as their family grew they would be blessed with ive grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Kamala had a true passion for people and devoted her life to the service of others. She worked for over 40 years as an Occupational therapist, both in India and the United States. Throughout her illustrious career she devoted her life to working with children that suffered from mental and physical disabilities to include Cerebral Palsy, and Autism. She also worked with the Elderly and Senior care. During her career she spent 9 years at the Bangladore Spastics Society, 3 years with Novacare in California, and Novacare in New Jersey, and had the privilege of working with Mother Teresa.
Kamala was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who was outgoing, energetic, and a true inspiration to others. She was well educated, enjoyed playing basketball and soccer, participating in the Girl Scouts, as well as reading, knitting and playing music. She was active in her community as a member of St. Marks Cathedral Bangalore for over 40 years, active in women's fellowship, and played music for the church.
In 2001, Kamala would retire. Her new life would involve relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. In retirement, Kamala would have more time to spend with her growing family, and continuing her love for playing music, reading, knitting, and gardening.
“One day at a time sweet Jesus” is how Amma lived out each day of her life. Being the kind-hearted and gentle soul she was, Amma modeled to us all that you do not have to be sophisticated, brilliant, or perfect to make a true difference in someone’s life. She blessed anyone who crossed her path; and was a channel of Christ’s love, always looking forward to glorious eternity. Her kindness, selflessness, and music will be missed by all.
Kamala was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Paul; father, K.P. Narayan; mother, Jeevasundaram Vedamuthu; and her brother, Devadas Narayan (Kamini). She is survived by her children: Vanitha Francis (Dr. Vidya Francis); Jaiprakash Paul (Suy); and Dr. Sapitha Rajan (Rajan Samuel); her siblings: Indira Samuel (Dr. V. Samuel), Leela Anandan (Dr. A. P. Anandan), Lalitha Jeyraj (Dr. K.P.A. Jeyraj), and Dr. Jairaj Narayan (Anitha Jairaj); five grandchildren: Dr. Ashish Francis (Dr. Katie Francis), Dr. Ashnitha Francis, Dr. Joshua Paul, Dr. Jamila Paul, and Abishai Rajan; and two great grandchidren: Mason and David Francis.
A visitation for Kamala will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. She will be laid to rest in Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
