John T. “Tom” Gailey of Boulder City died on July 18th. A Clark County resident since 1973, he was born in Phoenicia, New York, and attended schools in Kingston. In High School he was in the National Honor Society, in music and in sports. A World War II veteran of the 104th Infantry Division, he was a member of the Green Valley VFW Post 983. A graduate of the University of Southern California; he taught in Los Angeles and was in retail in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. He retired as Public Affairs officer at Hoover Dam where he worked for 17 years with the Bureau of Reclamation. A member of the Boulder City Masonic Lodge, #37, Las Vegas Scottish Rite and a past potentate of Zelzah Shrine in Las Vegas. Tom was also past president of Pacoima Lions Club in California. Tom cared about his family, his community, children needing healthcare and, most importantly, God! Survivors include his wife; Valentina “Toni” Gailey, daughter; Jan, sons; Gene and Jeff, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Masonic services will be held on Friday, August 1st at Noon at Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetary, Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Zelzah Shrine Transportation Fund.Arrangements under the direction of Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, Henderson, NV.
