Jan L. Barker

Jan L. Barker, age 85, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. She was born July 25, 1936 in Roff, Oklahoma to her parents Ernest Pipes and Doris Thelma Flowers. At a young age, the family relocated a few times prior to settling in Henderson, Nevada in her teens. Jan attended Basic High School where she participated as a cheerleader, fell in love with her future husband Bob Whitney Barker Jr., and graduated in 1955. She went on to continue her education obtaining her Associates Degree from Idaho State.

After completing school, Jan returned to Henderson, Nevada where she worked as an accountant and a teller at the Bank of Nevada. She reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Bob, and the couple were married on February 28, 1959. After a few years, Jan left the banking industry to take care of her growing family. The couple were blessed with two sons, Steve and David.

Jan was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; whom loved her family deeply, and the outdoors. She was a also a mom to all the kids in her neighborhood she welcomed into her home. She was at her happiest when she was camping, fishing, and hiking in the outdoors with her family; and tending to her garden at home. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could melt your heart. She will truly be missed.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Doris Pipes; her husband of 58 years, Bob; and her siblings: Jimmy, Mona, and Jean. She is survived by her sons: Steve (Dawn) and David; brother, Bennie; and her grandchildren: Lauren, Danielle, Amber, and Haylie.

A visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Jan will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery.
