James Wren-Jarvis, age 92, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021. He was born June 30, 1928 in Rangoon, Burma to his parents James Jarvis and Esther Mavin Kerr. As a young teenager, he spent two years in a Japanese prison camp with his father, sister, brother; after his mother succumbed to malaria while trying to flee with other refugees to safety.
After WWII, James went on to study for a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He then proceeded to earn a Master's Degree in Sanitary Engineering from the University of California, Berkley. James then earned his PHD in Sanitary Engineering from Kennedy Western University, California. He later, earned an additional Master's Degree in Business Administration from University of Southern Nevada Las Vegas.
James was a Diplomat of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and a life-time member of the American Waterworks Association, and the Nevada Water Pollution Control Association. James worked as an Environmental Engineer for the State of Wisconsin and the Clark County Health Department. Later, he worked as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Clark County Sanitation District. After James Retired, he still worked part-time for L3 Communitations Vortex Aerospace for over 15 years.
In his spare time, James was an avid golfer and tennis player, and enjoyed woodworking.
James was preceded in death by his parents James and Esther Wren-Jarvis, daughter, Jennifer Lewis; grandson, Davis Lewis; and brother, Clifford Wren-Jarvis. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Anna; son, Thomas; grandson, Christopher Lewis (Alissa); great-grandchildren: Christian and Jenna Lewis; son-in-law, Frank Lewis; sister, Pamela O'Hara; sister-in-law, Kathleen Wren-Jarvis.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 am. He will will be laid to rest following; both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary and Cemetery; 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015.
