2021 at the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada.
Jack was born on October 4th, 1928 in Hanford, California. His parents traveled there for work during the
Dust Bowl years. Jack’s family returned to Oklahoma and Jack was raised in Stuart, Oklahoma by his
Mama, Lucy. He spent his childhood with his Grandpa Samuel Wooley, who taught him about his
Choctaw Heritage; Jack and his family have been active members of the Choctaw Nation ever since. Jack
went to Stuart School and graduated in 1945.
Jack enlisted in the Army after graduation, just one month shy of the ending of World War II. He was
stationed in Korea and served his country with pride. After having competed on his school boxing team,
Jack then went on to win his fair share of bouts for the Army boxing team. [Following retirement, Jack was
honored to participate as an usher in the 1984 Olympics for the Boxing events. He considered this to be
one of the highlights of his life.]
In 1950, Jack was hired at The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He worked his way from
the ground up and retired as the Superintendent of the Joseph Jenson Filtration Plant in Granada Hills.
Jack met Rose Marie Reinhart at the company’s Christmas party in 1954. They married 6 weeks later and
stayed together for 46 years, until Rosie made her journey home in March of 2001. They had two
daughters: Marina Jo and Luann Jill.
Jack and Rosie moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1989. Joined later by both their daughters and their
families, they spent many hours playing, fishing, and traveling with their grandkids. After Rosie passed on,
Jack returned to Stuart and had a home built next to his big sister, Billie. He became a snowbird and
traveled back and forth from Stuart to Boulder City, where he met Sophia Sanchez in the fall of 2001; they
married in 2003. The next 20 years were spent making memories and traveling everywhere they could.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Rosie, his Mama Lucy Wooley, his sister Billie Jo Lawerence
(brother-in-law, Cassel), his brothers Dick Wooley and Bob Wooley (sister-in-law, Loretta), daughter
Luann Simpson, daughter Margaret Koch and granddaughter Amy Keeling.
Jack is survived by his wife Sophia Sanchez Wooley, daughter Marina Todd (son-in-law Aaron), son Ben
(daughter-in-law Suzy), son-in-law Mark Koch; 5 grandchildren; Gina Rolli (Brittany), Jack Rolli, Alex
Keeling (Tammy), Nick Keeling (Brooke), and Noah Keeling; great grandson Lyric; and many extended
family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 25 at 2pm at Palm Mortuary on Boulder Hwy in Henderson, NV.
The ceremony will be officiated by Chaplin Robert Nycek, the man who brought Jack to the Lord. Burial
will follow with military honors at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
The Family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mykala Crosby from Infinity Hospice. She and
Jack became great friends over his time at the Veterans Home; he loved her dearly, and she is definitely
part of our family. She’s looking forward to visiting us in Stuart!
Also, we would like to thank everyone at the Nevada State Veterans Home - it seems that each of you
have a very special memory of our very special guy. Thank you for everything.
