Born in Creve Coeur, Missouri, Harold (HAL) graduated from Clayton High School, Class of 1956. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Industrial Education in 1961. From there he entered the United States Marine Corp flying helicopters with HMM-365 where he flew 272 missions in Vietnam, receiving 17 medals, including two Distinguished Flying Crosses. After that, he flew HMX-1, flying Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, the Pope and many other dignitaries. From there he retired from the Corps and took a job with United Airlines where he was immediately assigned to fly the Nixon Charters. He continued his career with UAL flying over 15,000 hours until retiring.
Hal was President of the Crystal Lake Lion’s Club from 1984-1985 and on their board for 13 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Helen Meyer, as well as his son Mark. He is survived by his wife, Guyann Miller; daughter Carol Anderson, her husband, Erik and their two children, Blake and Elise.
