Earnest Ry Turner, Jr. began his mortal life on December 3, 1951 in Austin, Texas to the union of the late Earnest Sr. and Johnnie Mae Turner. Earnest was the fifth born of nine children to this union. Dorothy, Earnestine and Johnny preceded him in death. Earnest accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age.
Earnest was joined in holy matrimony to Comelia Lee Charity on January 20, 2000.
Earnest attended Phoenix Union High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after eight years. Earnest had a long career as a sheet metal installer where he retired after 28 years.
Earnest affectionately known to many as “Ernie” was a valued friend. He was caring, resourceful, and a reliable husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved fishing, sports events, watching game shows, playing cards and eagerly looked forward to weekly date nights with his lovely wife.
Ernie made his transition from life to eternal rest on July 11, 2024.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his beloved wife of 24 years, Comelia; Children: Tracy Webb, Nikki Turner, Ruby Blume, Charity Clark, Surlena Turner, and Quortney Muwwakkil (Amil); grandchildren: Destany, Tywon, Danajha, Keyon, Ahniya, Zionna, Nazhir, Zahir, Jamar, Zayden, Zamari, Lyric, and Gavin, four sisters: Mary Turner, Brenda Turner, Nellie Lewis, and Linda Turner; one brother, James Turner; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service for Earnest will be held Monday, July 29, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at First Henderson United Methodist Church, 609 E Horizon Drive, Henderson, NV 89015. Following the memorial service will be a military honors service at 12:40 PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
