Delbert Eric Scott

Mr. Delbert Eric Scott of Henderson, NV was called home to God's great light on Sunday August 31, 2014 at 4:20pm. Born April 4, 1929 he was surrounded by Family as he made his final transition. Delbert was preceded in death by his Father James Scott, Mother Mattie Mae Lane, his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years Helen Scott and great granddaughter Isis Latin. Delbert is survived by Three sons Eric Tyree Scott (Hazel Crest, IL), Alan Scott, Daughter-in-Law Brenda Mabry-Scott (Henderson, NV), and Andre Kevin Scott (Los Angeles, CA), Four Grandchildren Erica Denise Latin, Wes (Reno, NV), Candice Irene Scott (Houston, TX), Tyree Lamar Scott (Los Angeles, CA), and James Alan Scott (Henderson, NV), along with a number of nieces and nephews. Delbert was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and moved to Gary, Indiana as a young child. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1948. After high school he married Helen Green and he was employed by the US post office. He became very active in local politics and was also very much involved in the Gary music scene. While working for the Post Office, Delbert attended IBM night classes to become a computer operator. After completion of the classes he left the Post Office to work in the Electronic Data Processing Department for the City Of Gary. When the opportunity arose Delbert took employment with the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company, which required him to move to Inglewood, CA. where Helen and he lived for 20+ years. Delbert retired in 1991 and shortly after they moved to Henderson NV, where he lived their dream for 22 years. A memorial service will be held at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery 800 S. Boulder Highway Henderson, NV 89015 on Saturday September 6, 2014 at 11:00am a repass will be held right after the service.
