David Scott Houston, age 68, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 in Mulvane, Kansas. He was born on August 11, 1956 in Japan to his parents Donald Clay Houston and Kaga Shizue. David's youth was spent in Japan. At the age of ten, the family relocated to the United States, where he became a citizen. David was raised across the United States as his father served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from the Lakes High School in Tacoma, Washington, class of 1974.
Shortly after graduation, like his father, David enlisted in the United States Air Force. He gave up his duel citizenship in order to obtain his Top Secret Clearance necessary to work in the Internet Technology field. While serving in the US Air Force, David would meet and marry his wife, Sharon in 1987. David served a long and distinguished career in the US Air Force, honorably retiring after 20 years as a Technical Sergeant stationed at Nellis Air Force Base.
Following his service to our nation, David continued to work in the technical world, going to work for the EPA, managing a department of 20 plus anti-hackers until he retired again.
David was a husband, father, and grandfather; who enjoyed the outdoors, playing and watching sports, golfing, playing darts; and working on his 1970 Boss 302 that he purchased in 1977.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Sharon. He is survived by his two daughters: Melissa Houston and her husband, Larry Burnham; and Amy Houston and her husband, David Walker; brother, Michael Houston; his grandchildren: Michael Hoobler (Kaitlyn Kame), William Hoobler, Abbie Walker (Matthew Kirchner), Jack Walker, Lathen Kessler,and Micah Houston; as well as one nephew, three nieces, and six cousins.
A military honors service for David will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 S Boulder Highway, Nevada 89015.
