Charles "Chuck" Davis Jr., age 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. Chuck was born in Albany, New York to Mary V. Burton and Charles Arthur Davis Sr.. Chuck was raised in Albany with his three brothers: Bruce Larry and Al. He enjoyed playing stick ball, hockey, and spending time with his friends. Chuck graduated from Albany High School in 1964 where he was captain of the football team.
Shortly after high school, Chuck started his working career obtaining a job for the Times Union Paper. it was here that he started learning his trade, and got involved with the Unions, joining local ITS 15. In the 70's, Chuck relocated to California where he obtained a position working for the San Jose Mercury, where he was a union member of Local 15. He then went to work for the Palo Alto paper, where he was a member of both Local 15 and 853, then the San Francisco Chronicle, where he remained a union member of Local 853, before becoming the Director of the Newspaper Division in San Leandro where he retired in 2010. For many years he served as a union shop steward, before becoming the Principal Officer for local 15, and 853, and a teamster.
In January 9, 1993, Charles married the love of his life, Linda, at a small chapel wedding in Lake Tahoe, California. Charles was a loving husband and sports enthusiast with a giving heart. He was a huge Yankees fan and a collector of cards and memorabilia. He also appreciated the New York Giants football, team; but the Yankees were his passion. He enjoy going to Yankees games with his lovely wife, Linda.
In 2014, Chuck and Linda, both retired and settled in Las Vegas, Nevada. His new life involved continuing to support his New York Yankees, playing slots in his favorite casinos, watching TV and comedy movies, and enjoying the sounds of Jazz. Chuck had a heart of gold and was a a giving man who always made charitable donations to the Veterans, animal shelters, women's shelters, the diabetes association, alzheimer's Association, and the American Cancer Society.
Chuck lived his life to the fullest, cherishing each moment with his wife and many friends. He will truly be missed.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Arthur Davis Sr.; mother, Mary V. Burton; and his brothers Bruce and Larry Davis. He is survived by his wife, Linda Davis; his brother: Al Davis; and extending family.
A visitation for Chuck will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Chuck will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery in Henderson Nevada.
