Carol Ann Shearer, 80 years young, was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to parents Thomas (Arkie) and Ella Faye Shearer on 11/26/1941 and went home to be with the Lord on 05/15/2022. She is survived by her partner and the love of her life of 30 years, Martha Myers, five grandchildren (Andrey Rodriguez, Zack Horn, Trey Horn, Kaylee Fletcher and Paris Fletcher), three great-grandchildren (Emerald, Maragold and Ophelia Horn), 2 sisters (Kathy Kerben & Vickie Service) and 3 brothers (Thomas Shearer, David Shearer and Willie Folliet).
Carol was always a force to be reckoned with. She was in the first graduating class at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and went on to become a superb businesswoman. She owned and operated Penny Pincher Auto Parts in Phoenix, Arizona for over 30 years. Carol was involved in the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association for several years & was a fierce competitor in many events, proudly winning numerous buckles. She was always ready to help new participants with events & was looked up to by many for her roping skills & Wild Drag antics!
In 1988, she opened the Cash Inn Country bar as the first lesbian country western bar in Arizona, but men were always welcome. We imagine many partnerships were formed in that bar, all because one woman had one big idea! Carol also loved to play poker and was an avid fan of horse racing and football.
Carol was a long time member of Casa de Cristo Church, traveled all over the world with Martha and experienced many wonderful things, and in her words, “was blessed beyond belief.” Carol Ann Shearer will be missed, but the Lord has called her home.
