I began this journey in Minnesota during the "Real Depression". Soon, I heard of "Wagons West", and decided to move to California. I was 16 and just graduated from high school. Soon I found myself in California working at a battery factory as a bookkeeper. When I was old enough, I decided to go to a 3 year Nursing program, which was in Spokane, WA. After graduation, I returned to California and worked as an RN for a number of years. Later, I joined the Flying Tiger Airline as a flight attendant. We flew to all the 4 corners of the world and then some, a good job for a young girl. Later I met Pete Maudlin in California. He was flight crew for UAL. We were married for 32 years and lived in San Diego and Coronado. Our spare time was spent sailing, cruising and flying our small plane. When he retired he decided we must leave California and move to Nevada. A friend loaned us a book of the 10 best places in the US to retire. Next thing I knew, we were in Boulder City and have been there ever since. Rose R. put me in touch with Arleen and the Desert Bloomers Red Hats and Boulder City Red Hats.
