Barbara Lee Redmon Kerns, 82 years of age, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on February 16, 1937. Barbara graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1955 in Iowa. Barbara was proficient at Advanced Shorthand which she used as a Certified Purchasing Management Agent for Leisure World in Fullerton, CA. After moving to Las Vegas she worked as a Legal Secretary in several firms and then on to Ethel M Chocolates for many years where she made life-long friends.
Barbara had many hobbies. She loved to shop for herself and others. She practiced Tai Chi for many years and loved to travel. She loved to dance and celebrate all life events with her friends.
Barbara was married to Jack Kerns for 27 years until he passed away in December of 2008. Barbara was proceeded in death by Jack, her dear sisters Deanna Kay and Virginia Beth and her brother Judge Gary Redmon (Betty), all of Las Vegas. Barbara is survived by her nieces Carol (Bob) Dachelet and Linda "Kristin" (Trina) Krusemark, Stacey Redmon-Kendrick (Karl), Great-nieces Sophie and Camille, great-nephew David (Kim) Dachelet, Jim Dachelet, Dan (Kim) Dachelet, great-great nephews Sawyer and Dawson, great-great nieces Mali, Joey, Sarah, Meghan Dachelet.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2019, following her inurnment at the VA Cemetery with her husband, Jack Kerns, Navy veteran of WWII and recipient of a Purple Heart.
