Albert Harry Toma III, 77, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away December 8, 2024 at home with his family by his side. Al was born on June 17, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Nathene and Albert H. Toma Jr.. He attended high school in Kirkwood, Missouri, and then attended Kansas University, where he graduated with a Jurisprudence degree. It was there that he met and married his best friend and love, Mary Ann Weaver on November 30, 1968. This past November they celebrated their 56 wedding anniversary.
Upon graduation, Al took a job with Fort Howard Paper Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which later became Fort James and then Georgia-Pacific. It was there that Al began his 38 year career as a corporate attorney; specializing in environmental and governmental affairs. One of his main passions through the years was assisting in the cleanup of the Fox River.
Throughout his career, Al's expertise and knowledge of environmental law took the family from Green Bay, Wisconsin to Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Chicago, Illinois. However, it was Green Bay that he loved the most. It was there that he raised his two sons, Jon and Mike, and became an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He retired from Georgia-Pacific in 2010 as Regional Manager for Government Affairs and Vice President of Environmental Affairs. While in Wisconsin he served as a Commissioner for the Green Bay Water Utility and a member of the Board of Directors for the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin. Al and Mary Ann eventually moved to Henderson, Nevada to enjoy their retirement in the warmer weather and to watch the Packers from afar.
Al is survived by Mary Ann Weaver Toma, his wife of 56 years; his two sons: Jonathan Weaver Toma (Tina Chiu), and Michael Weaver Toma; his sister, Cindy Lynn Goodrick (Robert); Karen Burks, his brother Marc’s wife; grandchildren: Malin and Miles; plus many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marc Tom; his parents: Nathene and Albert Toma, Jr.; his grandparents: Faye and Albert Toma; and his grandfather, Marc Shofer.
Albert enjoyed his work, his family, and his retirement. He will be missed. This spring, his ashes will be spread by his family near Glen Lake, Michigan, the location of many wonderful family vacations. Special thanks to the staff of Pro-Care Hospice, Henderson, Nevada.
