

Ruth W. Franklin, 88, of Hemet, California passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Ramona Manor Convalescent Hospital in Hemet, California. She was born Thursday, April 19, 1923 in Columbus, Mississippi and was the oldest of 11 children. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hemet and lived in Hemet for 18 years. She worked as an inspector for bonds and securities at a printing company for over 40 years. She loved to be in the garden and was a member of the American Begonia Society and attended many conventions. During her time at home she was very interested in crafts. Her specialty was making quilts and ceramics. She shared her work with all her family and special friends. Her family was very important to her and she liked to vacation with family members in Branson, Missouri. She was considered the matriarch of the family and everyone referred to her as either mother, aunt, or grandmother. She was a great cook. Her specialty was what ever you liked - she could make it taste special just for you. Ruth loved the Angels baseball team. When living in Placentia she shared season tickets with her sister Margaret and they sat near the owner Gene Autry. Her favorite color is red. Her family describes her as caring, generous and loving. The family has requested in her honor to wear red to the funeral.
Surviving are sisters, Marion Keith of Hemet, Margaret Fisher, Linda Schmidt, and Elithe Franklin of Hemet; four nieces and three nephews, four great nieces, three great nephews, and one great great nephew.
She was predeceased by brothers, A.L.Franklin, Stanley Franklin, Wayne Franklin, sisters, Betty Smith, Dorothy White and Sarah Geier.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday , September 13, 2011 at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, California from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
