Richard Alonso Martinez

Richard Alonso Martinez, 75 of Riverside, California passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Kaiser Permanente - Riverside Medical Center in Riverside, California. He was born on Friday, December 21, 1945 in Los Angeles, California and he was the son of the late Thomas Martinez and the late Eutimia Landavazo Martinez. He was married to the love of his life Rosemary Martinez for 53 years. He was a proud member of the US Navy representing his country while serving, wearing his Vietnam cap and talking to fellow veterans about his experience was very important to Richard. He worked in the manufacturing printing business for over 40 years and retired as a supervisor. Family was very important to Richard and he could be seen at every grandkids sporting events cheering on each with his passion and love. Richard loved to watch and cheer on the LAKERS during the Kobe / Shaq years and now with LeBron and Anthony. He never missed a game and felt his seat at home was the best seat in the house. Richard was from the old school, he liked to jump in the car and take a drive while listening to his music that he spent countless hours adding to his Ipod….an adventure to see where he would end up for breakfast. Sometimes he would drive two hours before he found a special spot to stop. His family describes him as outgoing, personable and he had a quick wit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard will be missed by all that knew him and loved him. Surviving is his wife Rosemary Martinez; daughters Regina Romero (David); Robin Paris (John Gabriel); and Renessa Estrada (Angel); brother, Robert Dale Martinez; grandchildren Amanda, Dominic, Brandon, Rebecca, Richard, David Ryan, Kayla, and Ariana and great grandchildren Aiden and Alexis. Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at 2:15 pm. Due to the current pandemic space is limited so the family will be hosting a Celebration of life at a later date.
