Richard Lee Gilbert, 87 of Hemet, California passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Ramona Manor in Hemet California. He was born on Saturday, May 22, 1926 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the son of the late Fred and Eva Gilbert. Preceded in death was his beloved wife of 50 years Beatrice Gilbert who passed away in 2008. Richard had an unusual hobby, he loved to stop at garage sales looking for old and abused tools. He enjoyed cleaning them up and making them better than new. Richard also liked to collect Texaco trucks and cars and according to his sister had over 500 of them over the years. Richard liked to visit the local casinos once in a while. He was an active member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. His family describes him as tough as nails, caring, sweet as gold and enjoyed the grand children. Surviving is his sisters Hazel Rodgers and Betty Jean Mikkelson, 6 grand children and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
