Richard Elrod

Richard Wesley Elrod, 84 of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born on Monday, November 4, 1935 and was the son of the late Rollis and Margaret "Young " Elrod. Richard was married to the love of his life, Karen for 61 years before she passed away in December 2016. He had a rich life where family was most important to him and he worked to support them. He proudly served in the US Air Force in the late 50's where he learned skills as a mechanic. Richard worked on the Thunderbird Air Team while in the service. He then used those skills as a mechanic and eventually owned a service station. He went on to earn a teaching credential and taught for many years at Lake Elsinore High School and Chino State Prison. His family describes him as a loving man with good Christian values. Surviving are sons, Jeffrey R Elrod and Robert D Elrod, daughters, Teresa Elrod, Kathryn Demoville, Nancy Billings and Janet K Bernard, and sister, Marlyn Borror. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 4, 2020 at Miller-Jones Hemet Mortuary located at 1501 W Florida Ave Hemet, followed by interment at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, at 1:30 pm, staging area #3.
