Ralph Irvin Smith, 80, of Victorville, CA, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at his home in Victorville, CA. Born on August 9, 1931 to the late Harry and Pearlie Smith in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was a loving husband, a jokester, and a good man. And although he appeared to be tough on the outside, he had a heart of gold.
Ralph married the love of his life, Ethel Marie, on November 24, 1951. The following year, he was recruited by the United States Army and proudly served our country during the Korean War. He returned home in 1953.
Mr. Smith was a Quality Control officer for Rockwell International for 29 years. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bingo, collecting coins, traveling (Canada and Alaska were two of his favored desinations), RVing, remodeling cars, airplanes, chocolate, coffee, and watching the Military Channel and John Wayne films.
Preceded in passing by his son, Stephen Smith, he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ethel Marie Smith; daughter, Phylis Marie Bennett; son, Timothy Smith; six grandchildren, Rhonda Angulo, Ronald Cole, Richard Cole, Mark Cole, Channone Sheller, and Amber Smith; five great-grandchildren, Dannielle Angulo, Seth Angulo, Austin Cole, Jordan Cole, and Noah Sheller.
