Mona was born on August 23rd, 1933 in Redfield, SD to Floyd and Lucille DeLoye. On May 27th, 1953, she married Charles Riley Cheek. They raised a son, Charles Jr.
Mona was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passion was playing Bingo and she was the very best! She loved to travel and eat out at her favorite restaurants. Mona loved to watch the hummingbirds in her back yard and tend her beautiful rose garden. Knott’s Berry Farm and See’s butterscotch suckers were favorites. Mona would astound her granddaughters with stories of life on the farm, her travels across the country, and surviving the Alaskan Earthquake. Mona had a quick wit and an infectious laugh and loved her family dearly.
Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, father, Floyd DeLoye, mother, Lucille DeLoye, sisters Rita Moore and Cindy Breen.
She is survived by her son, Charlie and his wife Nyna, Brothers Floyd DeLoye, his wife Alice, and Jack DeLoye and his wife Juanita. Sisters Lorraine Egge and Judy House and her husband Bob. Granddaughters Crystal, Catherine, and Carly. Great grandson Finn. Nephews, Craig, Mark, Reese, and Chris. Nieces Diane and Dawn. Step Granddaughter’s Alyssa and Kellee. And relatives in South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21st, 2021 at the Riverside National Cemetery at 11 o’clock. Flowers may be sent to Miller Jones Mortuary in Hemet, Ca.
