Mary Elizabeth Burrus Fidler passed away on September 7, 2022 in Hemet, California. Mary was one of three children. She was born alongside her identical twin sister, Martha, on November 7, 1934 in Santa Monica, California to their parents, Ernest and Addie Jewett.
After high school, Mary pursued her education in college. Mary was an elementary teacher, lunch lady, eventually becoming successful at selling art and architectural tools and supplies.
Mary was a loving wife and devoted mother to her children, Phillip and Kimberly. Mary was a devoted Christian and a very active member in her churches. She was a founding member of a church in Hemet. Mary had many hobbies including needlepoint, sewing, painting, lamp making, and home improvement but her favorite hobby was quilting. She won awards for her quilts over the years and became the president of the Hemet Valley Quilters Guild at one point. Mary also enjoyed playing the cello in church and in other orchestras. She also loved singing and was very active in the Hemet XYZ (eXtra Years of Zeal) Ministry and the Harmoneers Chorale.
Mary was a social butterfly and loved to spend time with friends and host dinner parties. She would often sit out front of her home greeting neighbors and those passing by. She will be remembered for her friendly, spunky and feisty personality.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Addie Jewett, her sisters, Nancy Erday, Martha Elling, her first husband Gordon Burrus and second husband James Fidler. Mary is survived by her children, Phillip (Cindy) Burrus and Kimberly Neighbours, her grandchildren, Mercedes Neighbours, Jake Neighbours, Briana Nothhelfer, Ryan Burrus, Emily Burrus, and a host of extended family and friends.
Interment will be held privately at Riverside National Cemetery.

We plan to honor her life on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm, which will be held at Grace Fellowship Bible Church (375 N. Sanderson Ave., Hemet, CA 92545). Please join us following the service for a reception so we can share fun stories and memories of Mary.
