Madelyn is survived by her children: Edward Flynn of Vancouver, WA, Debra Gansert and her children Cailee, Caitlin and Brandon of Yorba Linda, CA; Her sister Jacquelyn Fuller of Big Flats, NY; Her brothers Russel Brisco of Ashland, NY and Ralph Brisco of Pineville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Flynn in 2011.
Madelyn was born on July 28th 1940 in Elmira, NY to parents Ross and Helen Brisco. She graduated from Thomas Edison Highschool in 1957. She then went to Arnot Ogden Nursing School were she eventually met her husband to be, Edward Flynn, in the course of her studies during a praticum in Binghamton. Upon graduation Madelyn and Edward were married and moved to Johnson City were she worked for several years as a registered nurse. They returned to the Elmira area after several years where she continued her nursing career at Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital. Madelyn work at this hospital for forty years rising from registered nurse to Head Nursing Supervisor of the Nightshift Emergency Room. She retired in 1995 but continued to work with Arnot until 2003 as Community Outreach Health Nurse and Director of Quality in Action.
In retirement Madelyn and Edward like to travel the country before settling in to live at Sun City, CA in 2005.
Madelyn had always had a fondess for needlework such as embroidery arts, but found a passion for quilting while Sun City where she joined severl quilting groups. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. She was also an avid reader of Mystery novels. Madelyn also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating their accomplishments.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 7th at Miller-Jones Mortuary located at 26770 Murrieta Rd., Sun City, CA 92585. Service is at 4pm with viewing afterwards. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Madelyn's life. Flowers may be sent to the Miller-jones location.
