Buzz was born in Canada to the late Joseph Phillip Quinlan and the late Margaret E. Quinlan. Buzz moved to Long Beach, California, during his early childhood. He dutifully served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Korean War. Buzz worked 31 years as a UAW auto worker and, at age 48, retired from the Chrysler plant in St. Louis, Missouri. He proudly drew his retirement check for ten years longer than he worked. Buzz was married for 50 years to his beautiful wife, Polly, before her passing in 2003.
In his spare time, he enjoyed flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, drinking Budweiser, playing guitar, and occasionally, after a few whiskey shots, he’d rediscover his talent for the saxophone. He will fondly be remembered as a father who could fix any household repair with a few jiggles and a grandfather who whipped up amazing freezer-burned corn dogs. All that knew him will remember he only had 21k miles on his 2000 minivan, and he indeed lived life his way.
Buzz is survived by his son Phillip Quinlan, granddaughters Loresia Vallette and Christina LaCroix, great-grandsons, Quentin Betancourt, Oliver LaCroix, and Robin LaCroix. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette Quinlan and his children Colleen Cosgrove, Tommy Quinlan and Judi Mazeika.
Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
