Joyce Idella Scudder

Joyce Idella Scudder, 88, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021, in Hemet, California. She was born on Wednesday, April 19, 1933 in Gypsum, Colorado to her parents, Earl and Ruth Frazier. The family moved to California in 1942. Joyce graduated high school in 1951 and attended some college.

Joyce was a dedicated mother to her three daughters while also working in the business field. One of her favorite things was to take her family to the beach for an all-day excursion. She loved relaxing in the sand at Newport Dunes, Huntington Beach or Laguna. She was a hands-on mom who taught her daughters to sew and cook and do crafts.

In the 1970's, Joyce met Robert Scudder and the couple fell in love. They got married on May 15, 1979 and joined their families together as one. Joyce was an amazing mother and loving wife. Joyce and Robert enjoyed road trips to New York and going on rides in their dune buggy. In her spare time, Joyce loved to read, golf, knit and crotchet, and play cards. Joyce also enjoyed drinking a delicious glass of wine during the afternoon happy hour.

Although she was quiet and reserved, Joyce was extremely family oriented. She developed long-lasting friendships, as well. Joyce was an extraordinary woman who will be missed by her friends and family.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, Earl and Ruth Frazier. Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert Scudder; her children, Sheri DeVault (Robert Fisk) , Deanna (Michael) Carry, Candice Du Bose, Laurie (Kevin) Wellington, Jodi Reining, Cathie (Mark) Weber, and Wendi Chappell; her brother, Richard Frazier, her 16 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 3:00PM at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet, California.
