Joseph passed away peacefully from natural causes after a long illness. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Vigil, of Colorado; his brother, Michael Berger, of Oregon; and his brother, Stephen Berger, of California. His youngest brother, Thomas, passed away several years ago. Joseph was born in Denver in 1934. He was the eldest child of Clara and Joseph Berger.
Joseph had a lifelong interest in fast cars, motorcycles and airplanes. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he learned to fly planes in a T-6 aircraft. After the service he went on to earn a pilot license and flew his own plane. He moved to the Los Angeles area working as a Xerox technical representative for several decades.
He enjoyed travel to Europe, New Zealand, and Tahiti. Later he retired to Sun City, CA, where he continued his love of flying by flying gliders in a local soaring club. He was interested in many subjects, including science and world events. Joseph was a person of considerable mechanical ability, intelligence and sharp wit. He will be missed by his family and friends.
