Born on 08/5/29, and raised in Atchison, Kansas, he graduated from high school, and attended college at Saint Benedict’s, in Atchison, and then served in the U.S. Army in the the Korean War, receiving five medals. Shortly, after receiving an honorable discharge, John met Audrey at the Southern Bell telephone company in the parking lot while she was going home after work. They were introduced to each other by his twin sisters Sarah and Susan and were married in 1955.
In the same year, John then began his first career with a Credit Union and in many years to follow he earned his position as the president and CEO of Continental Airlines Federal Credit Union.
He was elected and served as the National Chairman of the Credit Union Executives Society and also the Chairman of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions in Washington D. C. He was inducted into the hall of fame of both organizations.
He had many diverse achievements and recognitions.
He was elected to the City Council, was a board member of the Chamber Of Commerce; the Family Council Board; Selective Service Board; United Funds Board, and Boy Scout Committee Chairman. He was named in the California Who's Who, received the National Marketing Association Golden Mirror Award, and Appointed to the Governor's Economic Policy Advisory Committee.
John then began a second career as a minister by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Applied Theology at U. C. Berkeley California and was founder and President of Inspired Word Ministry (A National Evangelical Christian Organization). He was also the founder and President of the Phoenix Bible Institute.
He also served as Chaplain of the Manor Care Retirement Center for many years.
He is survived by his wife Audrey, in Hemet, California and they were happily married for 64 years. John is also survived by his son and daughter In-Law John and Shirin Stanton, in Westminster, Colorado, and his son and daughter In-Law Richard and Gale Stanton, in Cerritos, California, and his son Thomas Stanton, in Lakewood Colorado. John has one grandson Tyler Stanton and three step grandchildren: Shawn, Carrie, and Freddie, two step great grandchildren, Autumn Skye and Bethany.
